VeriCart™ auto-regenerative cartilage matrix
VeriCart is a unique, ready-to-use collagen scaffold that the orthopedic surgeon implants into a cartilage defect to stimulate cartilage regeneration. Once implanted, it attracts chondrocytes and stem cells into the scaffold to form neocartilage. In current trial protocols, the scaffold is rehydrated with the patient’s dilute bone marrow aspirate to increase the opportunity for natural cartilage formation.
The VeriCart scaffold is scheduled to begin Phase 1 clinical trials in late summer of 2008.
Advantages
VeriCart offers an attractive alternative for treating discrete cartilage defects. It requires no harvest of cartilage cells and, provides an environment for cell migration, attachment and proliferation leading to the production of true hyaline cartilage at the defect site.

VeriCart double-structured scaffold forms bio-receptive environment
VeriCart matrix stimulates the production of true hyaline cartilage right at the point of damage. This SEM of the primary and secondary structures shows where chondrocytes and MSCs can migrate, attach, and produce new cartilage that integrates with host cartilage.
